Welcome to the NCA tools website

The Primary Assessment Gateway has replaced NCA tools for all activities relating to 2019/20 national curriculum assessments. NCA tools users have been sent an email to notify them that their new account has been set up.

You can continue to access 2019 key stage 2 test results in NCA tools until 11:59pm on Friday 29 November.

Logging in

To log in, enter your registered email address and password then select 'Sign in'.

Your registered email address is the email address used to access NCA tools during the 2019 assessment cycle. Web-based email addresses (such as Gmail, Hotmail and Yahoo) cannot be used on this website.

Super users should review nominated users within their organisation to ensure they should continue to have access to NCA tools.

Passwords

The password must contain at least eight characters and contain three of the following:

  • uppercase (eg A, B, C)
  • lowercase (eg a, b, c)
  • numeric (eg 1, 2, 3)
  • special characters (eg ! $ % ^ & * () _ - # ~ @ ?).

Additionally, the password must meet the following criteria:

  • You will not be able to reuse any of the last 10 passwords utilised by the selected user.
  • The must password must not include information easily associable with the user, such as your name, school name or school address.
  • Avoid passwords containing easily crackable patterns such as telephone numbers, car registrations or date of births.
  • The password will be checked against a list of known weak passwords, so try to create a unique password.

You will then receive a second email confirming your password has been changed.

If you have forgotten your password you can reset this manually. To do this, you will need to:

  • click on the 'Forgotten your password?' link
  • enter your registered email address and select 'Submit'
  • go to your inbox for this email address
  • click on the unique link in the email to reset your password
  • in the new screen, enter a new password and then enter it again to confirm before selecting 'Submit'.

Emails from NCA tools

We are aware that some users experience difficulties receiving system-generated emails from NCA tools, including the emails that allow users to create a new password.

To make sure you receive emails from NCA tools, please ensure your ICT department accepts all email addresses ending in 'education.gov.uk'. If your system cannot be amended to accept all emails from NCA tools, please ensure that assessments@education.gov.uk is added to your organisation's safe senders email list. Including these email addresses on the safe senders email list will allow emails to be sent straight through to recipients and not blocked by spam filters.
